About Manafish
Underwater ROV technology, designed to be built by you.
Manafish is a Norwegian company developing 3D-printed underwater drone kits. We were founded in 2024 by Mathias Dam and Michael Brusegard, two students at NTNU. Mathias is a mechanical engineer; Michael is a full-stack developer.

Designed as a kit from day one.
Most underwater ROVs are either expensive sealed products or fiddly research projects. Manafish was designed from the start to be sold as a kit and assembled by a single person in a few days, with the boring steps stripped out.
The result is a drone with eight thrusters and a 50 m maximum dive depth, built mostly from parts you print yourself. We’ve worked with suppliers to source components specialized for underwater use, including corrosion-resistant motors and battery packs.
What’s in the kit
- 40+ components — motors, electronics, acrylic pressure tube, fasteners
- Lego-style assembly guide with video tutorials
- Pre-flashed Manafish software — no coding required
What you bring
- Access to a 3D printer (any reasonably sized FDM printer works)
- Basic soldering equipment
- A few days of build time, in nine focused modules
Customization
A modular frame. Endless configurations.
The main frame has attachment rails and mounting holes throughout. The shape and capabilities of your Manafish are decided by what you bolt on. The software supports any thruster placement you like. Spare motor channels can drive grippers, wire cutters, or fish-food dispensers.

Footage
Eyes below the surface.
Manafish gives you eyes below the surface, allowing you to explore a world that is normally completely hidden unless you are a scuba diver. Below is footage that we captured using Manafish in the Azores. This footage was NOT captured with the camera inside Manafish, but with an action camera mounted on top. The camera inside Manafish is decent quality, and it is more than enough for steering, but it can not match an action camera in terms of image quality.
Closed beta
Manafish is currently with 50 beta testers.
Kits aren’t for general sale yet. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you when they are.
